Things We Love Thursday

Well it is Thursday and I wanted to share a few things we are excited about!

 1.  This book is great!  It was recommended by our Pastor and friend, Patrick Rowe, of http://www.genesischurchtx.com
It is a quick 77 pages and chock full of words of wisdom on sharing the gospel.  Quick!  Go get it!  Wait, finish reading this blog post first.  Then go!

2. Audible.com
Oh how I love it!!!  I can take the kids to the pool and listen to a novel or some great teaching!  I highly recommend it!  Check out Librivox as well.  All the classics for free!

 3.  The Jesus Storybook Bible is hands down the best children's Bible out there.  The illustrations are beautiful and colorful, and best of all, it is all about Jesus!  My 4 year old does not put it down.

4.  This one is in regards to homeschooling.  I can not say enough good things about Easy Peasy All in One Homeschool.  It is a free Christian curriculum written by a homeschool mom.  She was so kind as to build a site and put it out there for us all to use.  She is a rock star!  You can use the whole curriculum or just a subject or two.  It is up to you.  Check out  http://www.allinonehomeschool.com

Confession Time

I have a serious confession.  Leading up to this move......Sponge Bob was my babysitter.  Little Remi had an addiction to that yellow, porous, undersea critter that was so bad I thought we were going to have to start a 12 step program.  I figured we would have withdrawals once we moved into the RV similar to those of an opiate addict.  I was wrong.  Remi has been serving everyone small cars and saying they are chicken nuggets, playing baby doctor, pretending we live in an ice cream truck and coloring like a mad woman.  I am blown away by the imagination this child possesses.  What a blessing that Nickelodeon and bad parenting choices did not ruin my sweet girls brain!

Jason and I had made the decision to not have TV for the time being so we could really focus on Jesus, family, and prepare our hearts to be missionaries in North America.  Now, don't get me wrong, the kids watch DVD's on the laptop and Netflix on the iPod.  We are not THAT crazy!  I don't miss my babysitter (too much) and I feel like I know my kids better now than ever.  So not a bad trade off!  I love the idea of a TV fast.  Anyone try it before?  What were the results in your family?

What a week!

Well, it has been one whole week in the RV, whom we have named Gypsy, and it was a TOUGH one!   We had an electrical surge which blew out the lights and fridge.  Jay replaced the fuses and the battery then we were up and running.  Two days later the AC system died!  $950 and 5 days later we had cold air again.  We were very blessed to stay with my folks for a few of those nights.  While at my folks house, I broke a toe and Rylee got sick!   This is just the tip of the iceberg!  We were feeling like we were under attack!  But, we serve a MIGHTY god and He is on the throne.  We have nothing to worry about because we have the cross!  He was so gracious to give us an amazing sunset over the lake.  Please pray for our protection and direction.  We love you all!

Allow me to introduce myself...

This is my crazy family!  My husband of almost 16 years, Jay (he is the hot stud in the back) and on the far right is my 14 year old, Rylee.  To the left of Rylee is my 10 year old, Addy.  Then there is Layla, who is the 4 year old being held sideways and Remi the 2 year old being held in the air by my studly husband.  I am that red head on the far left rocking the striped shirt.  Now that you know who we are, I would like to tell you a little bit about our journey.

We have felt the calling to go into full time ministry for a few years now.  We put it on the back burner because we had other things going on in our lives, like adopting our two beautiful little girls and being a part of a church plant with people we proudly call family.  We have been praying and seeking counsel for about a year, when we realized that we were sinning if we did not do what the Lord was calling us to do.  Okay...here is the crazy part.  What did we do?  Well we moved out of a 2100sqft home and into a 125sqft sardine can.  Just kidding, it is an RV.  This blog will be my point of view on day to day life pursuing last, so that He may be glorified.  I look forward to what is in store.
